Video: 2009 Corvette ZR-1 At Laguna Seca

The mystery supped up Corvette prototype that made its way in California for the American Le Mans Series season at Laguna Seca was caught on tape while performing a couple of test laps on the raceway. We’re still in the black when it comes to details but everything seems to be pointing to the long rumoured “Blue Devil” or ZR-1 version of the Vette. (See image here)

1955 Chevrolet Motoramic TV Ads

Those where the days (for GM that is); Toyota was a horsefly on Harley Earl's humongous tail fins and Hyundai was nothing more than a weird Asian surname. It’s 1955 and Chevy introduces its revamped Bel-Air equipped with an all new "Turbo-Fire", 265 cubic inch V8, offered in three versions: 165Hp with a two-barrel carburettor, 185Hp with a four-barrel carburettor and 196Hp "power pack" version that had a high lift solid lifter cam, high compression heads, and dual exhaust. This nostalgic array of classic TV commercials showcase the 1955 Chevy models deemed as “the new motoramic Chevrolet”. Via: Motorpasion

Pimp My Ride: Full episode on the 800Hp 1965 Chevy Impala that runs on biodiesel

Just in case you missed it, we dug this video of MTV’s special Earth Day episode of “Pimp My Ride” that aired on April 22, 2007. Xzibit and the GAS crew transformed a beat-up 1965 Chevy Impala SS into an environmental-friendly “bling-bling” mobile. The Bio-Rocket is fitted with a new PPE supercharged GM Duramax diesel engine that runs on B-100 biodiesel “pimping” out 800Hp and 1.400 lb-ft of torque allowing it to sprint from 0 to 60mph (96km/h) in just 3,5sec. Yeah I know, a car as large –and probably as heavy, as a small boat with a 800Hp engine isn’t exactly the epitome of ecology but whatev. Das video also includes a word or two, or three… from Gov. Schwarzenegger plus a 1/4 mile race with a Gallardo.

Super Bowl XLI - Chevy’s Ads

I don’t know about you but we kinda find both these commercials, well, put it this way, totally lame… The first one you see above is called “Car Wash” and it was actually created by a student named
Katelyn Crabb who won a contest organized by GM which involved video entries submitted by 820 teams from 230 schools. The second video, dubbed “Ain’t we got love” features a pack of stars who sing their love for Chevy products. Go figure… - Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see the second vid and GM's press-release -Via: Autoblog.com

GM PRESS RELEASE– During Super Bowl XLI, Chevrolet debuted the winning ad from the Chevy Super Bowl College Ad Challenge on network television. The ad was the original concept of Katelyn (Katie) Crabb of North Prairie, WI. Chevy was the first to announce their competition last fall for a consumer-generated ad for the Super Bowl. The competition focused on college students and asked that their ad concept focus on one of Chevy’s cars and crossovers targeted to the youth market, the Aveo, Cobalt, HHR, or Equinox. The winning ad concept was selected after students from across the country submitted their ideas to Chevrolet last fall.

“Chevy wanted to learn what resonates with the younger buyer, and this competition gave us an opportunity to do that. We were able to engage in creative dialogue with them about our brand and teach them about the real-world of advertising. The resulting ad is so much fun!” said Kim Kosak, Chevrolet General Director, Chevrolet Advertising and Sales Promotion.

“It was great to have this opportunity. I was so excited that I got to be on the set when the ad for the HHR was filmed – the car and the set were really cool,” said Katie Crabb – winner of the ad challenge. "I really enjoyed it all - meeting the other finalists, learning about the production process from Chevy - from music selection to editing – it was all fascinating. And now to see the final ad on TV – it’s been an amazing experience,” she said.

The 30 second spot was directed by Bryan Buckley, of Hungry Man Productions, and was produced by Chevrolet and Campbell-Ewald, their lead advertising agency.

Katie came up with the idea for the ad as part of a class project through University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. Her faculty advisor, Jessica McBride notified Katie that she was a finalist and would be going to Detroit for an all-expense paid trip in late October. During the trip, Katie was able to learn and experience first hand the advertising world. She and the other four finalist teams spent time learning about the cars and crossovers, and refining their concepts, before presenting them to the executives from Chevrolet and Campbell-Ewald.

“Chevrolet is thrilled we were able to help students realize their dreams of participating in real-world advertising. It was great to work with Katie on this ad. Katie’s a smart girl; she understood the importance of the idea and ran with it. She made a great presentation to us in Detroit. And everyone at Chevy has really enjoyed working with Katie on this commercial. We commend all of the students on their creative ideas, and thank them for participating,” said Kosak.

Chevy continued to engage students throughout the process, posting interviews with students about the ad challenge, supplemental materials from students and other information on the www.chevycollegead.com website. In January, www.cbs.com/chevy started running reality webisodes about the five finalist teams, and CBS The Early Show showed video mockups for a number of ad concepts that were submitted. Katie was named as the winner during CBS’ “Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials 2007” on Friday, February 2, 2007.

Drop-top gorgeous – Chevrolet Camaro Cabrio official pics

Embargo what? Oh, just read what we wrote earlier this morning so we can continue with what really matters to car enthusiasts like ourselves. Ok, maybe Dani’s prayers for a T-Top Camaro weren’t answered but by God, this is one hell of a beauty.-Continued: Click “Read More…” below

Painted in a super-sexy deep orange colour with retro black stripes, the cabrio version of last years Camaro Concept is expected to find its way to production shortly after its coupe sibling is introduced to the market in 2009. Apart from the absence of a metallic roof, there’s no other significant differentiation between the Camaro Coupe Concept and Cabrio. We’ll have more on Chevy’s gorgeous Camaro Cabrio when GM unveils it… officially on Saturday prior to its Detroit Show debut. Pics Via: Although you can find them in the whole damn net, we'll play fair and give credit to Autoblog.com

Never Mind the Mullets, Here Comes the Camaro

As stupid as it may seem, we couldn’t stop laughing with this Camaro-Mullet lover’s parody. It was made in memory of the last generation Camaro’s and Firebird’s, featuring a pack of mullet wearing, camaro driving, breast fondling, Texans. Instead of presenting a cabrio version of the Camaro concept in Detroit, maybe GM should consider presenting a T-Top version and bring back the “business in the front, and party in the back” hair-do.

Camaro Frenzy: GM releases video featuring Camaro's head designer driving & commenting on the prototype

The "Camaro frenzy" that has broken over GM's headquarters continues. A couple of days after the announcement that the Camaro will go in production, it's GMs Fastlane Blog (fastlane.gmblogs.com/) team turn to release a video. The later features Tom Peters, GM Director of Design of the 2006 Chevrolet Camaro Concept Car, driving & commenting on the car for the first time at GM's proving grounds in Milford, Michigan.

Contributing to the "Camaro frenzy" I added an original promotional video for the 1969 Camaro SS which includes a clip from a parade of classic Camaro's leaded by the 2006 concept version.

But not for long as a couple of guys show up in their "mucho" Chevy Nova & Camaro racing each other and filling the NYC air with the sweet smell of burnt rubber and the arousing symphony of a classic American big block V8. Cool video!

GM's 2007 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra Promo Video

A promotional video for GM's all-new 2007 Chevy Silverado and 2007 GMC Sierra large trucks. GM wants us to believe that both models will help alter its lineup to include less "gas guzzlers" and more alternative fuel vehicle...

To do that, the Sierra offers a FlexFuel engine which allows consumers to run their vehicles using regular gasoline, E85 ethanol or a combination of both while, according to GM, the Silverado's new body design is more aerodynamic thus reducing drag and improving fuel economy.

The amphibian “Watercar Camaro”

Created by a company called Watercar, this fiberglass amphibious vehicle is styled after the 2002 Convertible Camaro and comes with an independent suspension and brakes from a C4 Corvette. On the road, it is powered by a 2.5 Liter turbocharged Subaru boxer engine with 300 horsepower that is linked to a Rancho Type I-4 speed manual gearbox. In the water the vehicle is "propelled" by a Berkeley 12JE Jet Drive.

The WaterCar is said to be able to reach speeds in excess of 125 MPH (201 km/h) on land. Once the amphibious vehicle is driven into the water all four wheels are hydraulically retracted with the flip of a switch.

Furthermore, the bottom covers that enclose the wheel well are also hydraulically extended to create a smooth high speed bottom helping the WaterCar to achieve speeds of 40 MPH (60 km/h) on the water. The vehicle comes with four usable seats while the doors are fully functional with the aircraft style lock assembly assuring that they are completely water tight in the sea.
