VW Eos Print Ad - Split Personality

This VW Eos print advert comes from the Swiss ad agency “Krieg, Schlupp, Bürge / Springer & Jacoby”. The advertisement is pretty straightforward –the Eos is a coupe-cabrio or as others call it, a convertible with an electric folding hardtop, but since when is straightforward exciting or innovative? It might get the job done, but personally, we’d probably forget we even saw it a sec. What was the name of the car again…

VW: Scirocco, Golf VI Cabrio & Lupo Renderings

Before we get into any details on Autozeitung’s future VW model renderings, let us remind you something; on January 1st, Audi CEO Martin Winterkorn (officially) replaced Bernd Pischetsrieder as the head of Volkswagen Group CEO. From what we’ve heard from insiders, Winterkorn is revaluating every single project that Pischetsrieder approved. Take the Golf VI for example that was sent last minute back to the drawing board. Thus meaning, for the time being, one should be extremely cautious of any future VW model rumors. Saying that, here’s our opinion on the three renderings we see from German magazine Autozeitung: -Click “Read More…” below

Scirocco: We'll agree with Autozeitung that the 2006 IROC concept was far too close in appearance to the Golf and that VW will give the production version Scirocco a serious makeover. Don’t know about the new grille though.

Golf VI Cabrio: If the translation we made from the German magazine is right, Autozeitung is proposing a name change for the Eos successor –obviously, there’s no logic of having the Eos and the Golf VI Cabrio in your range even if the latter features a rag-top. Could be.

Lupo: The first generation Lupo which was also available from Seat as the Aroza, was an expensive and unsuccessful, premium mini. VW replaced it with the “cheap” Brazilian made Fox, that is also… unsuccessful. We know for a fact that Skoda is developing a mini that will fit under the Fabia II in its range so this scenario could have some truth in it. In any case we really dig the artist impression on the Lupo.

VW Eos "Highway 1" Concept Debuts at Pebble Beach

A month before the Eos starts its career in the US (October 2, 2006 with prices starting fro the 3.2 at $36,850), Volkswagen's California Design Center decided to debut a concept version of the all new Coupe-Convertible at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance (August 18-20).

Apart from it's name, the Highway 1 distinguishes itself from the stock Eos thanks to its 1 inch lower stance (due to a coil-over suspension system from H&R Special Springs), new 20 x 8-inch Mille Miglia multi-spoke alloys and wide 245/30 Continental performance tires and finally, a discrete boot-lip spoiler.

In the interior, the Highway 1 gets upgraded with special 2-tone leather upholstery and piano black lacquer trim plus a thick flat-bottom sport steering wheel. No surprises under the hood as the Eos Highway 1's drive train features a standard 250Hp 3.2-liter V6 that’s combined with VW’s innovative DSG double-clutch 6speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic.

ABT Volkswagen Eos Tuning & Design kit

Oh, boy here we go now, one by one tuners are getting ready to present there propositions for VW’s new Eos Coupe-Cabrio model. This time, it’s German tuner ABT which specializes on VW Group models (Volkswagen, Audi, Seat & Skoda ). From the translation I made -as ABT obviously thinks we all “sprechen Deutsch” (…), and the first pictures they gave, the ABT Volkswagen Eos gets a light bodykit with front and rear aprons, sideskirts, tailboot spoiler, quad exhaust pipes and 18’’ or 19’’ 5 star rims.

In the interior, ABT offers customers something called in German “abbott Aluschaltknauf” -whatever that means (help welcomed) and special floor mats.

Like all Volkswagen models, the Eos can be equipped with various engine upgrades. The 200 Hp 2.0 TFSI for example gets tuned up to 270 Hp. There is also a special package for the same engine called “Innovative Sport Package” which combines power (240 Hp) with low consumption. Finally, the 140 Hp 2.0 TDI diesel engine can be upgraded to 170 Hp.

New Volkswagen Eos Microsite Launched

With just over a month to go before the launch of the Eos coupé cabriolet, Volkswagen has revealed a new website for potential buyers, allowing them to experience the new car in an innovative way, as well as customise and select their own vehicle ahead of the on-sale date of 14 July.

The website can be accessed via the Volkswagen site (www.rediscoveryoursenses.co.uk) or direct at at www.volkswagen.co.uk/ne...

Visitors to the site will be able to use the latest online interactive technology, previously only available through the likes of PlayStation and Xbox, to ‘drive’ the Eos through a three-dimensional interactive sensory world of sights, sounds and product information that extend the creative landscapes of the television and print launch advertising. The result is a completely new kind of online experience in the car market that lets people discover the new Eos in the way that suits them.
