SEMA: Mitsubishi Double Shotz Hot Wheels Concept

Take a very good look at the Mitsubishi Double Shotz concept pictured above; believe it or not, what you’re looking at is actually… a Hot Wheels toy car! As “mama” Mattel explained, in order to celebrate Hot Wheels' 40th anniversary, it invited major carmakers to submit a series of concept ideas that would be turned into a line of 1/64 scale toy cars in spring 2008. Mitsubishi entered the Hot Wheels Designer's Challenge with a proposition from Mitsubishi Motors Research and Design of America (MRDA) employee, Gary Ragle.

Gary’s Double Shotz concept sportscar, that’s fitted with two 4G63 engines derived from the Lancer Evolution, was one of the seven winners in the Hot Wheels Designer’s Challenge. We wouldn’t mind at all if Mitsubishi decided to create a life-size concept of Gary’s proposition. -Details and images after the jump




Press Release - Mitsubishi Motors Employee Gary Ragle Selected as One of Seven Winners in First-Ever Hot Wheels® Designer's Challenge

Toy manufacturer Mattel has announced that Mitsubishi Motors Research and Design of America (MRDA) employee Gary Ragle is among seven designer finalists to be selected in the company's first-ever Hot Wheels Designer's Challenge™. MRDA was among six automotive manufacturers to participate in the challenge, which marked the first time Hot Wheels has turned outside the company to seek new vehicle designs.

Created to represent the ultimate Mitsubishi vehicle and the spirit of the brand's future, the sleek design of Ragle's Mitsubishi Double Shotz celebrates the 4G63 engine and the Lancer Evolution. "The design takes the concept of the Lancer Evolution to the next level and ties it in with the enjoyment and imagination of the Hot Wheels brand," said Ragle.

After being selected by a panel of judges that included editors from the Los Angeles Times, Car and Driver, and Men's Journal, along with Hot Wheels designers and executives, the designs were unveiled at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas on October 30th, 2007. The Hot Wheels Designer's Challenge product line will be available in stores in the spring of 2008.

Mitsubishi Tokyo Show Concepts Picture Update


We just did a follow up today on Mitsubishi’s Tokyo Show line-up (see here) and discovered that the Japanese firm has added several new images of both the i MiEV and ZT concepts. In a nutshell, the i MiEV Sport is a 2-seater roadster based on the “i” mini equipped with in-wheel electric motors in the front and a single motor in the rear driving the rear wheels. The 4,950 mm or 195-inches long ZT is a sports sedan powered by 188 Hp 2.2L diesel engine mated to Mitsubishi’s Twin Clutch Sport Shift Transmission (SST). There’s a good chance that the ZT could be previewing the next generation Galant. That’s the US market model cause in Japan, the Lancer is sold as the Galant Fortis. -Continued after the jump

Mitsubishi To Debut Three Concept Cars At The Tokyo Show

No, despite our tiredness, we haven’t confused the Frankfurt with Tokyo–well, at least not yet. So in the midst of the Frankfurt Show, Mitsubishi decided to announce its Tokyo Motor Show (Oct. 27 to Nov.11) line-up. Apart from the Concept-cX which will be shown in Frankfurt next week, Mitsubishi’s Tokyo Show stand will be adorned with two more concepts, the i MiEV Sport and the Concept-ZT. -Continued after the jump

The i MiEV Sport is a two-seater roadster based on the i MiEV. It is equipped with in-wheel motors in the front and a single motor in the rear that drives the rear wheels. An E-4WD system electronically optimizes the output of all motors. As for Mitsubishi’s other concept, the ZT is a large sedan (4,950 mm or 195-inches) that’s fitted with a newly developed fuel-efficient, 188 Hp 2.2-liter clean diesel engine which is mated to Mitshubishi’s new Twin Clutch SST (Sport Shift Transmission).

Mitsubishi Motors lineup at the 40th Tokyo Motor Show

i MiEV SPORT MITSUBISHI Concept-ZT

1. i MiEV SPORT

(Show Car)

Characteristics

- Based on the i MiEV, the i MiEV SPORT enhances the "driving" image of Mitsubishi's electric vehicles. The car features Mitsubishi Motors' unique in-wheel motors in the front plus S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) -- the company's vehicle dynamics control system -- to achieve high maneuverability as well as high levels of both environmental and running performance.

- The car brings a new closeness between people and cars; allowing them to become more a part of daily life.

Design

The "fastback" exterior design expresses the quickness of the car with an appearance that is pleasing and lively. An efficient, environmentally friendly electric vehicle thanks to its compact size, it also possesses exceptionally fluid styling. A simplified interior styling creates a pleasant space, allowing occupants to feel at home. Geometry, metallic materials and body epitomize the futuristic electric vehicle. Interior lighting, too, has been carefully thought out, with the use of many blue LEDs suggestive of nature, creating a sophisticated, cutting-edge atmosphere.

The light green exterior marks another association with nature. The pearlescent paint, which shines when hit with direct light, brings feelings of advanced, futuristic technology and environmental peace of mind. The interior is sporty and dynamic as a result of the substantial use of mesh materials, while the space, with various natural elements, fosters feelings of both security and comfort.

Packaging

Like the i MiEV, i MiEV Sport uses a rear-midship design in its layout. Making use of the relatively long wheelbase of this platform, a high-capacity lithium-ion battery is installed in the lowest area under the floor, and components including a motor and inverter are arranged beneath the luggage compartment. This layout provides optimal distribution of weight, front and rear, and a lower center of gravity for stability, sporty performance, and a spacious interior.

Body Structure

An aluminum space frame -- a combination of aluminum extrusions and aluminum die casting -- is light, rigid and strong; helping to improving performance by minimizing weight.

The optimum layout of structural members, including front-side and cross members, efficiently absorbs crash energy in the event of front-end or side collision. In a collision from the rear, EV components under the back seat and rear floor serve as a barrier to ensure the integrity of the passenger compartment. By making use of the rear-midship layout and utilizing Mitsubishi's latest RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body, the concept realizes excellent occupant protection in collisions from any direction, even when colliding with a vehicle of different height or weight.

Powertrain / S-AWC

The system employs a structure consisting of three permanent magnetic synchronous motors. One in-wheel motor is placed at each front wheel; a single motor drives the rear wheels, as is used in the "i MiEV" system. An E-4WD system electronically optimizes the output of all motors. In addition, a new E-AYC (Electric Active Yaw Control) system is employed to directly regulate torque at the left and right rear wheels via an electric motor. In addition to the E-4WD and E-AYC, the S-AWC system integrates ABS and ASC (Active Stability Control) systems, thus independently controlling driving force, traction and braking at all four wheels, for total maneuverability and maximum stability.

Energy Saving Technology/Environmental Technology

Energy-saving environmental considerations are seen throughout the i MiEV SPORT. Effective use of energy is achieved by installing an auxiliary photovoltaic generator on the roof, a power-generating fan inside the front grill, and regenerative braking functions to recover energy when the car is slowing down. Much of the lighting is by bright, power-saving LEDs, including in the rear combination lamps and vehicle interior, and the efficiency of the air conditioning is enhanced by the use of heat-absorbing window glass. In addition, Green Plastic -- Mitsubishi Motors' unique plant-based resin technology -- is used wherever possible for interior components in another nod to the environment.

Characteristics

- By combining a high-powered, fuel-efficient, 2.2-liter clean diesel engine and Twin Clutch SST, and using significant quantities of Green Plastic in the interior, a high level of running and environmental performance is achieved.

- In addition to advanced active safety technology, Concept-ZT achieves a high level of passive safety. Features include pre-crash safety; a lane-drift warning system; driving assistance technology, including new all-around multi-monitors and a parking assistance system; and crashworthiness safety technology including a pop-up hood.

- Moreover, equipped with the S-AWC system combining front E-LSD (Electric control - Limited Slip Differential), ABS and ASC, based on Mitsubishi Motors' 4WD electronic control system, the MITSUBISHI Concept-ZT is a premium sedan that possesses dramatically improved driving, environmental and safety performance.

Design

The basic exterior form, simple and flowing with a low center of gravity, yields a sense of stability and sportiness fitting Mitsubishi Motors' premier sedan This base is combined with a powerful shoulder line, substantial side panels and projecting fenders. Sculptured headlights, grill and aluminum wheels proclaim quality and status created out of "Japanese" sensitivity -- a sophisticated and adult sensibility.

In the interior, the goal was a level of "hospitality" that would resonate with all the senses of the occupants. Combinations of designs with clear contrasts -- simple forms with overall continuity gently embrace passengers and precise, hard functional parts -- express the melding of quality, comfort and the pleasure of driving. Meters and monitors are of clear materials, futuristically stacked, with the beauty of industrial art.

Minute quantities of a new reflective material add elegance to the body color. In combination with decorative parts, including wheels and grill, a radiant presence is realized with a sense of quality and refinement, like jeweled layers of precious metals. Interior colors are a combination of grained black wood, metal and leather, making maximum use of materials expressing boldness, sophistication and grace.

Powertrain/S-AWC

The concept's powerplant is a newly developed 2.2-liter 4-cylinder DOHC, 16-valve with VD (Variable Diffuser)/VG (Variable Geometry) clean turbodiesel engine with common-rail direct fuel injection (piezoelectric injector) that delivers a maximum output of 140 kW and maximum torque of 400 Nm.

The power unit is mated to Mitsubishi's new Twin Clutch SST, which delivers superior power transmission efficiency in a powertrain that realizes smooth, responsive, effortless power and acceleration, whether on the highway or in urban areas, together with good fuel economy. The S-AWC system combines front E-LSD (Electric control - Limited Slip Differential), ABS and ASC with the 4WD electronic control system also used in Outlander and Delica D:5. This optimally controls driving force, traction and braking at all four wheels, and provides stable driving on various road surfaces under various conditions, realizing a pleasurable and safe driving experience.

Body Structure

As in the i MiEV SPORT, the aluminum space frame structure combines aluminum extrusion and aluminum die casting, not only realizing a body of great strength and rigidity, but contributing to weight reduction and crashworthiness. In addition, for the outer panels of hoods, fenders, doors and trunk lids, shock-resistant, recyclable resin is used, as seen on the front fender of the Delica D:5.

Safety Technology/Driving Assistance Technology

Pre-crash Safety System: Using millimeter-length radar waves, the system detects cars far ahead as well as obstacles in the adjacent lane. When it determines that objects near the car are too close and there is danger of a collision, it warns the driver to take action. If the system determines that the possibility of a collision is nevertheless quite high, it pretensions seat belts and activates crash-restraint seat cushions to increase passenger restraint, and initiates emergency braking to reduce the impact of an imminent collision.

Lane-Drift Warning System: The system consists of a front camera, steering angle sensor, speed sensor, yaw rate sensor and ECU. The front camera recognizes lane markings (white lines, etc.), and the system, based on information from the other sensors, calculates the possibility of the vehicle drifting out of its lane, warns the driver, and adds steering torque in the direction such that the car stays within the lane.

Pop-Up Hood: If the car should hit a pedestrian, the hood pops up before the person's head strikes the hood, acting as a buffer and minimizing injury to the head.

New All-Around Multi-Monitors: In addition to a nose-view camera and a rear-view camera, cameras with extremely wide-angle lenses are positioned at the left and right sides. Optical distortions of the images from the four cameras are corrected, and the information is converted into a display of the situation all around the car as seen from the top -- thus enabling clear confirmation by the driver. The nose camera is also part of the proximity-detection function for approaching objects.

Parking Assistance System: A distance sensor, embedded in the bumper, assesses the space available for parking. If parking is possible, the system will automatically maneuver the wheels (steering) while all the driver must do is control braking.

3. MITSUBISHI Concept-cX

(Show Car)

Characteristics

High levels of driving and environmental performance are realized through the combination of a newly developed 1.8-liter clean diesel engine and Twin Clutch SST. Practicality is improved with a high-visibility driving position and improved accessibility to luggage space from the split tailgate already well received on the Outlander. Mitsubishi Motors positions this compact SUV as a "soft roader" for on-road use.

Design

The design gives the exterior a purposeful and functional form using a dynamic wedge shape and large tires. The front visage combines the inverted-slant nose, trapezoidal grille, and sharp headlights that define the new Mitsubishi Motors design identity starting with the new Lancer. The casual rear view is of the characteristic two-way, T-shaped glass tailgate.

The interior is a modern, sporty space, fusing excitement and the joy of driving. The instrument panel and trim comprise a solid framework with soft, light pads interwoven as a welcoming embrace for passengers.

The fresh medium-blue color of the body is reminiscient of clear lakes -- a fresh, ecologically attuned image. The paint contains a mixture of delicate aluminum flakes producing an unconventional metallic, transparent effect. In the interior, black and white are the key colors, with brown genuine leather highlights. The space is fashionable and appealing.

Powertrain

The combination of the newly developed 1.8-liter clean diesel engine and Twin Clutch SST achieves both responsive performance and low fuel consumption.

The 4WD-based integrated vehicle dynamics control system offers excellent running stability and versatility, and is also used in SUVs including the Outlander and Delica D:5.

Safety / Environmental Technology

Energy-absorbing materials with differing characteristics are incorporated into the lower portion of the bumper, serving to cushion impact and minimize leg injuries to pedestrians, as well as enhancing the bumper's ability to restore itself to its original state after minor collisions.

In addition, Green Plastic -- Mitsubishi Motors' unique plant-based resin technology -- is used wherever possible for interior components in another nod to the environment.

Mitsubishi Concept-cX: Officialy Revealed


Following yesterday’s leak, Mitsubishi Europe took the wraps off its compact crossover that’ll premiere at the Frankfurt Show in a fortnight. Based on the Lancer / Outlander platform, the Concept-cX is equipped with a new 1.8L diesel engine with a variable geometry (VG) turbocharger that delivers 136 ps (100 kW) @ 4,000 rpm / 280 Nm @ 2,000 rpm. The 1.8L Clean Diesel engine is mated to Mitsubishi’s Twin Clutch SST automated manual transmission –the same one that will be fitted to the upcoming Lancer EVO X. As for its electronically controlled AWD systems, it’s derived from the new Outlander.

Albeit we doubt that Mitsubishi will clearly admit it, judging from the Concept-cX’s down to earth exterior design and the fact that its based on the Lancer/Outlander platform and mechanics, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Japanese firm put the cX into production in a couple of years. -Press release and high-res images after the jump


MITSUBISHI CONCEPT-cX

- DUAL PEACE OF MIND -

Building upon 70 years of 4-wheel drive expertise, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) is in a privileged position to appreciate the customer benefits of this technology, both in terms of on-road active safety and off-road ability, from Lancer Evolution to Pajero.

In parallel, MMC is acutely aware of the pressing issues brought by climate change and is implementing a holistic environmental global strategy, through its “Environment Initiative Program 2010” (EiP 2010) umbrella programme.

Combining these two “peace-of-mind” approaches, Mitsubishi Motors will introduce Concept-cX at the 62nd Frankfurt Motor Show: a vibrant demonstration that driving pleasure and corporate responsibility are not mutually exclusive and the showcase for the CO2 friendly all-new Euro 5 Clean Diesel family of engines, co-developed by MMC and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. and to be launched in 2009.

Ingrained guiding principles

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation’s corporate citizenship and its concern over environmental issues is neither a recent phenomenon nor a quick marketing trick.

Indeed, they are deep-rooted in Mitsubishi’s corporate culture, as formalised in several guiding principles edicted in the 1930s by Koyata Iwazaki (of the founding Iwazaki family) the fourth and last President of the old Mitsubishi organisation:

  • Enrich society – both materially and spiritually – and safeguard the global environment.
  • Conduct business in the spirit of integrity and fairness and on a foundation of transparency and openness.
  • Adopt a global perspective in developing and expanding business.

A few decades later, these principles are very much alive and respected throughout the Mitsubishi group of companies.

The first of these principles was the trigger for MMC’s continued efforts in the area of environmentally-friendly technology, from the MCA (Mitsubishi Clean Air) engine technology of the 1970s to today’s wide spectrum of solutions.

Since the 1993 Mitsubishi Motors Environmental Council, MMC has formalised its commitment to use its engineering expertise to contribute to a cleaner environment.

As a reminder, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has adopted an all-embracing approach in addressing global environmental issues. Under its “EIP 2010” (“Environment Initiative Program 2010”) umbrella project, the Company is actively engaged in the development of a wide range of such technologies, covering:

  • Powertrains (see below)
  • Materials (plant-based “Green Plastic”,…),
  • Processes (“Design for Environment” guiding principles,…),
  • Manufacturing (pollution-prevention and recycling measures).
  • Conservation ("Pajero Forest & Local Mountain Restoration Initiative" aiming to conserve and cultivate Japan's forests and woodlands,…).

Europe = Next Generation Clean Diesel

Whilst pursuing long-term fundamental research & development, Mitsubishi Motors has taken a very down-to-earth view on marketable “green” technologies to make a bigger impact short term.

In particular, MMC has decided to go regional with powertrain solutions matching the everyday reality of very different regional needs, driving patterns & infrastructures:

    • Clean Diesel Euro 5 family of engines for Europe,
    • Next-generation electric vehicle for Japan,
    • Flexible fuel vehicle for Brazil,

Considering the overwhelming importance of diesel in Europe (50+% of sales on average), the most effective short-term was to elect diesel as the low CO2 solution for this region, as opposed to fancier technologies, ultimately limited in impact by cost, sheer volume or recyclability.

There lies the strategic importance of MMC’s next generation of Euro 5 Clean Diesel engines. Developed jointly with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd, this new family of powerplants is a key element in Mitsubishi Motors' efforts to lower CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions.

Features contributing to the new engine's class-topping power output and Euro 5 emissions performance include a new high-efficiency turbocharger and high-efficiency combustion characteristics that stem from the application of own analytic technology of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi Motors.
Consistent with its no-frills approach, MMC has taken the decision to bring forward to early 2009 the start of production of this family of engines to Europe, one full year earlier than scheduled (following the European introduction these powerplants will also be phased into other markets). This advancement will allow MMC to meet the needs of the growing number of environment-conscious customers quicker and make de facto a more substantial and short(er)-term impact.

Real World

In this context, Concept-cX represents a proposal for an accessible, affordable, sustainable and realistic solution to today’s pressing issues, whilst preserving authentic driving pleasure.

Case-in-point, Concept-cX follows the popular compact SUV route to carry this message right at the heart of the market, where SUVs are one of the fastest growing segments.

Sharp in design and in dynamics, Mitsubishi’s Concept-cX boasts an excellent environmental performance to be seen in the (targeted) low fuel consumption and emission levels achieved by its 100 kW (136 ps) @ 4,000 rpm / 280 Nm @ 2,000 rpm next generation 1.8-litre Clean Diesel DOHC 16 valve 4 cylinder engine. Amongst other technologies, it features a variable geometry (VG) turbocharger – to generate optimum boost pressure for all engine loads – as well as DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst).

For this concept car application, the 1.8 l Clean Diesel engine is mated to Mitsubishi Motors’ Twin Clutch SST technology. Recently announced, this automated manual transmission combines the economy and dynamic driving of a manual transmission with the convenience of an automatic gearbox. In essence:

  • High power transmission efficiency and low fuel consumption, on par with a conventional manual unit.
  • Slick, sporty gear changing with no clutch pedal.
  • Quick response and smooth shifting.

Concept-cX’s further green credentials include eco-friendly “Green Plastics”, MMC’s proprietary plant-based resin technology - made from bamboo and other plant-based resins - effectively used for interior trim materials, such as floor mats, door trim, tail gate trim and seat back panels.

On-road demand

Surfing on the popular compact SUV wave by strategy (up 54% from 325,000 in 2001 to 500,000 in 2006 and with further 35% growth expected between 2006 and 2009) and by heritage (from the 1936 PX33 to the 2007 Outlander, L200 and Pajero), Concept-cX does acknowledge the essentially on-road usage of these vehicles.

Trendy substitutes to more conventional formats such as MPVs, compact SUVs add a bit of shine to utility whilst fulfilling all the duties expected from compact family cars. Hence the split tailgate used by Outlander but also Concept-cX for instance.
Compact (410 cm), low (155 cm), wide (175 cm), sitting on a long wheelbase (252,5 cm) and wide tracks (151 cm/151 cm) and planted on its 225/45R19 tyres, Concept-cX offers passenger car-like stance and dynamics, as suggested by its gaping Lancer “Jet Fighter” grille.

Its on-road abilities are further enhanced by the use of Mitsubishi’s sophisticated AWC (All-Wheel Control) technology, similar in essence to the device successfully introduced with the new Outlander.

This electronically controlled 4WD system offers the driver a choice of three modes (2WD, 4WD Auto, 4WD Lock) to match traction control to his preferences or driving conditions. The centre differential features an electronically controlled coupling that uses feed-forward control to determine the optimum front/rear torque split from sensor data on throttle opening, vehicle speed, road conditions and driver inputs.

Jet fighter

Featuring the “Jet Fighter” grille introduced with the all-new Lancer family and using a derivative of Outlander’s 4-wheel drive drivetrain, Concept-cX creates an interesting link between Mitsubishi’s passenger cars and SUVs, an intention clearly visible in its exterior design.

Indeed, that SUV / hatchback crossover positioning is stressed through design features shared by both formats. However, Concept-cX incorporates a sports car flavour stronger than usually applied to this genre and very much consistent with Mitsubishi’s impeccable sporting heritage.

Wedge

The intention is evident when considering Concept-cX’s overall format: a tight and powerful wedge, slotted within four bulging wheel-arches, fronted by the vast expanse of a clam-shell hood and finishing with deep-set headlamps either sides of the reverse slant of an over-sized version of Mitsubishi’s trademark “Jet Fighter” grille.

The flanks themselves are all motion, with beltline, Lancer-like character line and even the position of the door handles following airflows.

At the back, all lines converge and merge into the wrap-around “fast hatch” tucked in between the powerful rear fenders, with the eyebrows of the (front) headlamps echoed by the (rear) roof spoiler and the lower vent / central exhaust resembling jets’ thrust nozzles.

Concept-cX also ticks the convenience box with its deep panoramic backlight, twin-stage split tailgate and high mounted rear combination lamps.

As a finishing touch, Concept-cX sports a sharp & pure metallic medium blue hue that evokes the image of a crystal-clear lake, while the use of fine aluminium flecks throughout creates a nearly transparent metallic finish.

Open

Using MMC’s proprietary Green Plastic (floor mats, door trim, tail gate trim and seat back panels) and upholstered in earthy tones of brown (leather) and off-white, the interior bridges the gap between sporty and comfy, mixing driver-oriented round meters with bench seats and soft padding to create an interior space that cocoons the occupants, but remind them that they are in a car. Still…

Thinly padded but welcoming nonetheless, the organically-shaped front backrests are mated to a bench seat integrating the transmission lever (Twin Clutch SST and 2WD/4WD functions) as well as the starter and some of the warning lights (bonnet open, “fast hatch” open, low fuel).

The dashboard itself points to the underlying strength of the car’s frame and invite all occupants to share the voyage through a mega-sized information centre touch screen.

*Twin Clutch SST puts odd (1st, 3rd, 5th) and even (2nd, 4th and 6th) gears on separate input shafts, each connected to an individual clutch. With both clutches under precise system control, this arrangement allows lightning-fast, smooth and lag-free gear changes with no interruption in power delivery.

Using clutches instead of a torque converter to transmit power makes the Twin Clutch SST simpler in structure and reduces power transmission losses for higher transmission efficiency that leads to improved fuel mileage.

Twin Clutch SST allows the driver to switch between 3 shifting programs to cover the full range of driving situations:
a. Normal mode:
For normal driving situations, Normal mode scheduling uses relatively low-speed shift points to deliver unobtrusive shifting for maximum comfort together with optimum fuel economy.
b. Sport mode:
For more demanding driving or when engine braking is required, Sport mode scheduling uses higher shift points and quicker shifting to deliver instant throttle response.
c. S-Sport mode:
Compared with Sport mode, S-Sport mode scheduling keeps the engine turning at higher revs while allowing lightning-fast shifting.

Mitsubishi Concept-cX: First Official Image?

While we can’t be absolutely sure since this picture has not been uploaded by Mitsubishi, it certainly looks like it’s the real deal. Compared to the sketches of the Concept-cX that the Japanese carmaker released at the end of July –follow the jump or click here, the compact crossover’s appearance is less dynamic, but isn’t that always the case with “Sketches vs Reality”? Anyway, in a nutshell, the Concept-cX is a 4.1m long compact crossover based on the Lancer’s global compact platform and equipped with a soft-road application of the Outlander-derived Electric control 4WD drivetrain. Depending on the public reactions at the Frankfurt Show, it is possible that Mitsubishi could go ahead and build a production version of the cX in the very near feature. -Continued after the jump
