Mustardo: Ford Mustang Equipped With Lamborghini Gallardo V10!

If this isn't the weirdest Mustang you've ever seen, then please don't hesitate to tell what is... The Tractorri Lamborghini Mustang, or Mustardo, as we decided to call it, made its appearance at the 2007 SEMA Show earlier this month. John Haugh of Cleveland, Ohio built this custom creation starting off with a new Lamborghini Gallardo and a new Mustang - somebody better hold us cause we're about to turn red...

Underneath its modified Ford Mustang body, the Mustardo is equipped with the Gallardo's mid-engined all-wheel drive powertrain meaning that this creation gets a 520 HP V10 engine and sequential shifting transmission! -Continued after the jump

The rear end of the car has been designed to imitate the Gallardo and it features a huge honeycomb mesh venting which allows us to get a peek of the Mustardo's hardware. Amazingly, Haugh also completely redecorated the interior to look like the Gallardo's cabin.

According to the guys at 'The Mustang News', Haugh plans to drive the Mustardo regularly.

2018 Mazda3 Facebook Winner: Concept To Be Displayed At The 2007 LA Show

…and the winner of Mazda’s innovative “Design Challenge” contest hosted on Facebook is Mallory McMorrow of South Bend, Ind., a 21-year-old Industrial Design major at the University of Notre Dame. McMorrow, who managed to beat out nearly 300 contestants to win the Design Challenge will work with Mazda designers on stage in the Mazda booth at the L.A. Auto Show from Nov. 14-24 to bring this sketch to life. The sketch was completed with the help of Mazda designer Jacques Flynn.

The “Car Girl”, as she’s called by her classmates in the Industrial Design department, described her vision of the 2018 Mazda3 as an everyday sports car, a 5-door that makes her forget that she owns a 5-door, a car that can be practical yet sporty. The sketch looks great and we cant wait to see it in real life.-Details and pics after the jump

Mazda and Self-Proclaimed 'Car Girl' to Bring 2018 MAZDA3 to Life at 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 12/ - It is neither a commuter vehicle nor boring sedan. It is also not an undersized sports coupe or awkward, disproportionate hatchback. At the moment, the 2018 MAZDA3 is nothing more than a lump of clay on stage at the Mazda booth at the 2007 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show -- and the vision of Mallory McMorrow of South Bend, Ind., the winner of the Mazda Design Challenge. By the time the auto show comes to a close, an exciting, life-size model will be unveiled for all eyes to see -- and a talented woman will be one step closer to fulfilling her automotive design career dream.

A landslide victory, McMorrow's entry was voted number one by Facebook members, as part of the first-ever program between Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) and the social networking site. To enter, contestants submitted a 150-word description of their vision of the 2018 MAZDA3 and an optional sketch drawing.

After weeks of voting -- first by Mazda designers, then Facebook members -- McMorrow was selected as a finalist, at which time she was paired with Mazda designer Jacques Flynn who helped bring her design to life on paper. "Jacques took everything I said and sketched, and put my thoughts and feelings on paper," said McMorrow. "I was thrilled when I opened up the images of the final renderings. I'm proud to say that the end design was still definitely my car and I can't wait to see it come to fruition on the show floor."

On Nov. 14, McMorrow will begin working one-on-one with Franz von Holzhausen, director of design, MNAO, and his team to bring her concept to life, live from the Mazda booth at the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show. A formal press conference will be held at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Mazda booth.

"The Mazda Design Challenge brought in a flood of cool, unique design ideas. The winning design concept is a fresh new way to look at the design of a vehicle," said von Holzhausen. "This competition was a tremendous success, and the entire process was really beneficial to my team and me to understand what design means to our target buyers. Now the hard part comes -- to see if we can actually build a full concept car on the show stand in ten days and in full-view of show goers."

Auto show attendees can watch von Holzhausen and his team in action from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. daily, as they mold, carve and smooth the would-be 2018 MAZDA3. The final clay sculpture of the concept will be unveiled at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24.

Mallory McMorrow -- "Car Girl" by design

An Industrial Design major at the University of Notre Dame, McMorrow, 21, of Whitehouse, NJ, first heard of the Mazda Design Challenge from her professor, Paul Down. Dubbed "the car girl" by her classmates in the Industrial Design department, McMorrow, who discovered her love for cars at a young age, jumped at the chance to enter.

With a background in graphic and industrial design, most of McMorrow's design experience to date has focused primarily on product design, including automotive cleaning and car products. "All throughout college, I've heard nothing but how hard it will be to get into the auto design world, how I should keep my options open, and even how I should 'think about interiors (because)... women work on interiors," said McMorrow. "Now, thanks to this contest, I have a completely refreshed feeling about pursuing a career in cars."

Mallory's 2018 MAZDA3 -- In her own words

"A decade from now, I want a car that doesn't believe in falling into a category. A car that makes sure sedan and hatchback are no longer four letter words. A chassis made to handle every s curve that comes its way. Fast. I want a car with the body and soul of a sports car, but a car that knows that sometimes I want to bring my friends, my things, or my dog. I want a car that has a sunroof that's actually a sunroof, not a sun-one-quarter roof.

I want a car that causes heads to turn -- even before the first rev of the engine. I want a car that went from concept to showroom without meeting muted for the masses -- unapologetically. I want a MAZDA3 that gets me -- the everyday sports car, the 5-door that makes me forget I own a 5-door."

In addition to McMorrow, finalists in the Mazda Design Challenge included Christopher Chung, Silver Spring, Md.; Preston Gilliam, East Bend, N.C.; Andrew Kinomoto, Bothell, Wash.; and Danny Song, San Mateo, Calif.

Toyota 2000 SR Concept Inspired From The 2000GT

The 2000 SR is a concept designed by a company dubbed “SURE Design” and it pays tribute to Toyota’s classic 2000GT. The Toyota 2000GT was Japan’s first serious attempt to enter the supercar market and due to the fact that it was produced in limited numbers -just 351 units were built between 1967 and 1970, it is considered as one of the most sought out sports cars of our time.

The modern iteration of the 2000GT is designed as a two-seater coupe powered by a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 600Hp 3.5-liter V6 turbo unit (front mid-engine position) that runs on bio fuels with rear wheel transmission for circuits and race tracks, and a second front-mounted electric motor capable of independently driving the front wheels. The electric motor is designed to be used around cities or countryside in pollution free mode, at moderate speeds. -More pics after the jump

2010 Ferrari FS 599 Fuoristrada SUV

Huh; a Ferrari SUV? We admit, it does sound weird but as the saying goes, “where there’s smoke, there’s a fire”. And if anything else, we’ve been hearing a lot about Ferrari’s intentions to broaden up its line-up with a high-performance SUV. We won’t lie to you and say that we have inside information on the SUV project, but if Porsche did it successfully with the butt ugly Cayenne (and without denting its image), we can’t find a reason to as why Ferrari shouldn’t.

This rendering, which we acquired from our newly found friends at the Romanian car website “Automarket”, was created by Andrei Avarvarii. Unlike other propositions for a Ferrari SUV that we’ve seen in the past, the FS 599 Fuoristrada (according to Automarket, that’s the codename Ferrari uses), looks quite good combining styling elements from the past and the present. -Continued after the jump

The guys at Automarket support that Ferrari company bosses are attempting to seal a business agreement with the Fiat Group as we talk. Basically, Ferrari has to convince Fiat that that the SUV project will be profitable in order to get the final okay. In this case, the model will most probably make its worldwide premiere at the Geneva Show in 2010. Here are the initial specs that Automarket posted: weight 2,200 kg / 4,850 lbs, +600 HP, less than 5 seconds for the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint, 300 km/h (185 mph) top speed and a price of around 250,000 euro or $360,000 (in Europe).

2009 Nissan Murano: More Photos Leaked

The levee surrounding the 2009 Nissan Murano (which should have been revealed for the first time at the LA Show press days on Nov. 14, 2007) has been fractured for the second time in a week - click here. This time, the guys who like connecting cars let out two new images of the second generation crossover along with a few details. Unlike the 2009 Murano’s exterior design which is more evolutionary than revolutionary, the crossover’s interior is all-new and definitely more upscale looking. -Continued after the jump

Sales are set to start in early 2008 and according to “The car Connection”, the new Murano will be offered in front- and all-wheel-drive versions both of which will be equipped with Nissan's 265 Hp, 3.5-liter V-6 and a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

A source of ours tipped us off today that Volkswagen will introduce a third interpretation of the Up! Concept at the 2007 L.A. Show that opens up to the public on Friday, November 16. According to our insider, the concept will be based on the 5-door Space-Up! (click here) prototype that was revealed at the 2007 Tokyo Show in mid-October. The main difference between the LA and Tokyo Show concepts concerns the powertrain as the Californian Space-Up! will use a high-tech hydrogen fuel-cell powered motor. We’ll have more on the new Space-Up! Concept later on. (Picture: Tokyo Show Space-Up!)

Carscoop Notes:

We tried doing the same with other cars available in worldwide markets like the new Subaru Impreza WRX or the VW Golf GTi, but in most cases, we couldn’t find pricing on several official sites in a logical timeframe –as you can understand, we couldn’t spend more than 5 to 10 minutes on each site.

Just for the record, we couldn’t find prices for the 350Z on the Turkish, Saudi Arabian, Trinidad & Tobago, Kuwaiti, Jamaican and Chinese Nissan sites, while on the other hand, in countries like Israel, Nigeria, India and Vietnam, the 350Z wasn’t available (or at least, not on the official site).

Alfa GTV Evoluzione: 1979 GTV With New Body & 3.0 V6

While we’re accustomed with American tuners presenting modern interpretations of classic cars like the Ford Mustang, in Europe, the majority of car nuts prefer restoring rather than modernizing classic vehicles. Therefore, it’s no wonder that we were surprised with the GTV Evoluzione which was created by “Racer X Design”, a company based in Malta, an island nation in the Mediterranean. -Continued after the jump

Using a scrapped 1979 Alfa Romeo GTV as a base car, Racer X Design’s team began working on the GTV Evoluzione in 2004 and it finished this year (2007). The car was designed by Reuben Zammit and built by Jean Paul Pisani who used metal sheets instead of fibreglass. Both the front end and the back end were completely cut off and re-built from scratch, the track was widened by 8” on the front and 9” on the back, using one off wheels designed in-house.

The original GTV’s drive train was replaced by a modern 3.0-litre V6 24v Alfa Romeo unit while the brakes were also upgraded to 4 piston Brembo calipers and 300mm vented discs, as were the suspension system and chassis in general.
